Bag & Collection
Purchasing your bag via our website you have 2 options:
Option 1: Bag only.
You purchase the bag and it will be posted to you. You can then fill it when you’re ready and book a collection separately or use the bag for something else!
Option 2: Bag and collection.
You purchase the bag and collection at the same time. The bag will be posted to you. When you are ready, you fill it and give us a call. We will then arrange collection.
NOTE: Order placed before midday will be dispatched the next working day. No courier service is available for weekend or Bank Holiday deliveries.
Barton Skip Bag Delivery
We have strict, carefully planned delivery schedules, using a variety of different couriers. Whilst we endeavour to meet all our customers individual requirements, delays do occasionally occur.
Taking Care Of The Bag
Our skip bags are extremely strong, buy may be weakened if damaged. All our bags are quality checked prior to dispatch.
We advise against sharp objects, hot ashes or any items potentially damaging being placed in the bag. Damaged bags will only be replaced at a cost to the customer, and will not be collected by the driver should there be any evidence of damage.
Positioning the bag
Ensure you position the bag before you start filling it. We advise you NOT to attempt to move the bag as any attempts to do so may result in damage to the bag or cause injury to your yourself.
To enable collection the bag must be accessible from the public highway. Please bear in mind that the skip bag must be left within 3 metres (10 feet) of a public highway. It is also important to note that the highway must be a minimum width of 4 metres (13 feet) to enable access for the collection vehicle.
It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure that the bag is placed clear of any walls, tree, parked cars, overhead wires or other objects that may prevent the bag being collected.
Should you have any concerns regarding access, we strongly advise that you contact us prior to placing your order as customers will be liable for collection costs should the driver be unable to collect the bag due to access issues. If a further collection slot is required this will incur an additional cost.
Our bags may be collected by a large lorry, if you feel a smaller vehicle is required, please advise us of this at the time the order is placed.
Filling the bag
To comply with Health and Safety requirements, bags must not be filled above the top edge.
If the bag is overfilled the driver has the right to refuse collection. They may request that overloaded bags be levelled. Due to strict collection schedules, a further collection slot will be required, incurring additional cost to the customer.
Our skip bags are intended for the disposal of ordinary household, garden and builders’ waste only. These bags are not suitable for the disposal of hazardous or specialist wastes, such as asbestos, fridges, freezers, batteries, electrical goods, gas bottles, liquids, chemicals, sprung mattresses and clinical or food waste. Should any of these items be in the bags following collection, the customer will be liable for any surcharges incurred by Barton Skip & Grab Hire and could see the customer facing legal action for a breach of environmental protection legislation.
EA legislation states that plasterboard cannot be accepted if mixed with other waste streams. We are only able to collect plasterboard if it is segregated into its own skip bag. We will refuse collection if plasterboard is present with other waste items.
We Collect it

Barton Skip & Grab Hire’s office hours are Monday to Friday 7:30am till 4:30pm (excluding bank holidays)
We request that you contact us as early as possible to arrange collection and ensure that you have your reference number available for bag/collection packages booked through our website. Please also advise us if you need to be present at the time of collection, and we will endeavour to arrange a mutually convenient time.
Our prepaid bag and collection service is valid for 6 months from the date of purchase. The price paid at the time of purchase is valid throughout this timeframe. If you wish to arrange a collection after the 6 month expiry, a surcharge will be incurred.
We aim to collect your bag within 7 working days, starting from the day following your request. However, during peak times our collections may extend beyond this. We will keep you informed should this be the situation, and this will not incur any additional charges.
Cost of collection will be confirmed at the time of booking.
Our collection hours are between 6am and 4pm. Please ensure that our vehicle is able to access the bag throughout. We do not require the customer present during collection unless this has been pre-arranged.
We reserve the right to refuse collection for any of the following reasons:
if a bag is positioned beyond the reach of our vehicle,
the crane operation is obstructed,
our collection vehicle cannot gain access to the site
the bag is overloaded, overfilled, damaged or contains any waste other than ordinary household, garden or builders’ waste (refer to ‘Filling the bag’ above).
Refunds will not be issued if collection has been unsuccessful for the above reasons
Please advise us at time of booking of any restrictions that may apply to the collection site.
Please note: Due our fleet of vehicles, our collections schedules are prearranged to ensure milage is kept to a minimum, thus reducing the impact on the environment.
We hope that you are pleased with the service we offer. However, we do offer a cooling off period should you change your mind. In such cases, please contact us to arrange the return of the bag, unused and in its original packaging. Barton skips are not liable for the cost of returning the bag should you change your mind. On receipt of the bag, we will cancel your order and issue a full refund.
In accordance with the Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000, cancellation is not permitted once collection has been scheduled. Please contact us directly if you have any issues and we will endeavour to reach a suitable solution with yourself. Any alterations to collection slots will be at the discretion of Barton Skip & Grab Hire.
